Art-Based Workshops for the Workforce
Are we really hearing what our co-workers say to us daily? Our work roles are at times confusing to those around us and to ourselves. Our roles may be changing as more women succeed to higher management levels. Are stereotyping communications getting in the way of effective communications at work?

Working Styles
From my own experience, men generally communicate in a straight forward approach and seek to dismantle in order to get what they want. They want to be sure of their place in the scheme of things. Women will build concensus in group environments. Women tend to build community and seek to empower others.
The River
Use oil sticks, and white paper to paint a river. Work in twos--one man and one woman--to create a picture of a river. The man works on one side (left))and the woman works on the other side (right). Write down any observations as you both work to create a river. After you are done painting, discuss the river and how you both felt as you worked.
