Myths and Fairytales. | Spirit bowls are special paper mache vessels that have imbedded special meaning to the creator, literally and figuratively. The idea is taken from the Native American medicine bag and the sacred vessels used in the Catholic Church and in earlier times the sacred vessels of the goddess temples. After the bowl is completed the creator uses it as a vessel to keep sacred and special objects in. It is during the creation of the bowl that ideas develop that bring forth meaning and metaphor for the creator. The creator is asked to bring significant objects that may be embedded into the bowl while making it.
